GIS Specialist
Summary:
Paratum Solutions is looking for a GIS Specialist to execute multiple concurrent GIS projects of intermediate difficulty in support of the acceptance and growth of GIS technologies by Paratum's clients. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, manage workload and schedule, and have the drive to see projects to completion.

Essential Functions:
Delivers mapping solutions for routine and non-routine GIS projects by executing the production aspects of projects, namely map deliverables, web map solutions, and mobile applications.
Assists with GIS planning, implementation, and evaluation endeavors by demonstrating advanced knowledge of GIS software and technology, data acquisition and storage, spatial analysis, and cartographic deliverables.
Researches technical solutions for our projects and clients to advance the utilization of GIS technologies, processes, and procedures.
Convert/migrate data from disparate sources, including CAD, PDF, paper, and XLS files.
Uses GIS software to develop and populate project-specific geospatial databases.
Uses GIS software to create custom maps, reports, and applications tailored to client needs.
Executes and documents established technical workflows.
Works closely with senior staff to execute and support custom mapping applications and solutions.
Delivers projects on time, on budget, and on scope.
Technical Knowledge:
Fundamental experience with Esri ArcGIS core products, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
Intermediate understanding of various coordinate systems and projections.
Fundamental experience with CAD to GIS data integration/conversion/migration.
Intermediate knowledge of data structures, development, editing, and quality control procedures.
Fundamental ability to draft reports, written standards, and how-to documents.
Intermediate knowledge of cartographic principles and effective map design.
Intermediate ability to solve geo-processing errors and resolve technical issues with data and software using available knowledge bases and community support.
Intermediate experience with Esri ArcGIS Online platform, including creating web applications, data publishing, Field Maps, Survey123, QuickCapture, and StoryMaps.
Fundamental ability to think critically, analyze workflows, document user requirements, write system specifications, and maintain and enhance current applications.
Fundamental knowledge of GIS scripting languages to streamline geoprocessing functions and tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Executes geospatial data entry and creation.
Executes data conversion to GIS from CAD and other files.
Collects digital or source data to update databases and create GIS maps and applications.
Digitizes and scans hard-copy maps, drawings, deeds, and site plans using GIS hardware and software.
Locates pre-existing datasets and resources using internal and external sources such as the internet, municipal and government databases, private sector sources, and other professional resources.
Collects data using various spatial measurement devices including aerial and digital photography, distance measuring tools, and GPS equipment.
Acquires data by submitting requests to appropriate agencies, including private and public organizations.
Physically collects data from raw sources such as libraries, networks, or related media.
Create web and mobile mapping applications in Esri ArcGIS Online applications using Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, Dashboards, Field Maps, Survey123, and QuickCapture.
Physically collects information in the field using GPS devices, Esri applications, and other methods.
Creates electronic templates for use in data entry and formatting.
Writes macro programs within GIS software using proprietary programming languages.
Identifies appropriate spatial data models to apply to complex problems based on agency needs and available GIS applications and resources.
Performs independent quality assurance reviews of GIS projects by ensuring project and data deliverables match agreed-upon scope and parameters.
Performs quality control reviews of team projects.
Other tasks as needed.
Experience and Education
3-5 years experience required
Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or similar; or 5+ years of relevant GIS experience
